I don't know what it is about this thing,
it hangs in my living room,
I'm pretty sure not everyone likes it,
I just love it!
I enjoy astrology,
and my kids get a kick out of it!
Plus I paid like $7. for it in a yard sale!

Hospital casting room

February 25th, 2008

So today was a sick day for Hayden... AGAIN!
we got to the hospital around 2pm,
as per usual,
we get into a room and seen by hospital staff immediately!
Within 30 minutes he's got an IV in for dehydration.
Today was neat,
the ER was so busy that they were running out of beds,
some people were actually in the halls in chairs!
Waiting rooms were full,
so this isn't really a complaint,
just pointing out how bad the situation was.
They put Hayden in the Casting room,
a rather large room, were it not for all the medial supplies stored there.
Twice during our stay in that room,
a doctor came in with patients,
with the patients standing in the doorway of the room,
he casted their arms, me sitting there watching.
Super busy day for the hospital!

So essentially I'm posting pics of everything I looked at for 9 hours today...
Hayden slept most of the day so there was no chatting,
and as you can see, there was no room for me to do exercises!
So I sat in a VERY uncomfortable chair the whole time!
They admitted Hayden, and Dad & I switched places tonight.
So Dad gets sleep over duty!
Good news?

Hayden is getting the proper care at the hospital,
and tomorrow he will be home all better!

I rarely,
well really never have the two rabbits out of their cages at the same time...

Why you ask?
Well, simple really!

Jax is a bit aggressive toward Trix,
who is a very calm,
affectionate bunny!
I'm not sure if he's trying to
"get some"
or what but Trix, doesn't want any part of what he's after,
Maybe she's just playing hard to get!!

Hayden's Inukshuk

This is Hayden's Inukshuk,
He made it at summer camp a number of summers ago...

I've had a horribly busy couple days.
A great deal of stress
and quite possibly the worst days
I've had in quite some time!
That being said,

The word "inuksuk" is an Inuktitut word meaning
"to act in the capacity of a human"
and comes from the word
"inuk"
which can be translated as
"human being"

With all that's gone on lately,
I feel so very
"human"

I knew that today I was going to take a wonderful picture!
Yesterday's fried egg was really a low point!

So today I was determined to take a nice picture of something around where I work!
See where I work, we're in the middle of nowhere.
Seriously!
At a dead end street, only one other building near us, and marsh lands all around.
You can see lake Ontario off in the distance,
really not that far at all.
So I know as the weather gets nicer the photo opportunities will be amazing!
Today I was willing to take a picture of some of the dead buried in snow
marsh land behind work, when from my desk, looking out a south
facing window, over Lake Ontario, was this....
Of course with my lunch break due at that exact moment, I had to take opportunity when it presented itself!
And this is the result! I love this picture!!
I'm actually proud I took it,
No photo shopping involved!

I can't claim laziness today...
we all know the way to a mans heart is through his stomach,
and as a married mother of 3 boys,
I have 4 men to satisfy!
So today's dinner, roast beef, mashed potatoes, carrots,
guacamole and chips to snack on and this cake for dessert!

4 layers of cake and vanilla icing with of course the infamous red food colouring!

Almost time to put away the red and pull out the green!

So I didn't even leave my house today!
Kinda makes it difficult to take a picture of something in the world if
I don't go to out into it!!
So my laziness resulted in a picture of this fairy that sits on a shelf in my bathroom!
She watches you as you use the toilet!
Makes you want to come over and use the bathroom doesn't it??

Unexpected work-out

Today I went grocery shopping, had to walk about 2 blocks from my bus stop to
No Frills grocery store.
The sidewalks were covered in ice, slippery uneven ice.
I had to walk carefully, mindful of my steps,
to ensure I didn't fall flat on my back,
(which I've already done once this winter!)
I must say, once I reached the clear, paved ground,
I became painfully aware
of the work out walking on
that icy path is for the glutes!
Still kinda sore!

A baby's growth over a 1 year span

This is a picture of several pictures of my beautiful nephew (soon to be big brother!) Logan.
He's my sisters first baby, and because mine are so much older, I just love being around another baby, it's been so long for me!
Truth be told, it's been a month since I've seen him,
miss him lots!
They change SO much, SO fast at this age!
I'll see him soon I hope!

This board is one of my favorite things in my home!
(Feelin like Oprah!)
It's called a Buddha Board...
It's a white slate, you paint on it with the paintbrush,
the black box at the bottom is full of water.
You paint whatever you want on the slate whenever you want.
It disappears as the water dries, returning to a fresh clean slate.
I don't think a single person in my house can walk past it without drawing on it!

The ongoing joke...
"I wrote a note to tell you what was for dinner,
(insert whatever your note was about)
didn't you get it on the Buddha board?"

Snow chunks on Sam's pick-up.

Today at work, I walked into the lunch room and saw a beautiful snow fall outside,
not enough time to go grab my camera and run outside to take a picture,
and can't take pictures out the window, because cameras aren't allowed on
the premises!
So I made a comment,
"All right, wicked ass snow fall!"
Two other young ladies both in their early 20's were in the room and looked at me.
One asked if I was joking or serious,
to which I replied;
"Yes, I am very serious!
I know this crap is cold, and horrible,
and makes it difficult to get around in...
But I hate global warming more than I hate cold and snow!"
To which the other young lady replied...

"I don't care about global warming, I just hate driving in the snow!"

I obsoletely could NOT believe my ears...
not only did someone say that,
but a person who really is young enough to realize, and be educated on the fact
that if something isn't done now,
something drastic, she may not have to worry about spoiling her grandkids,
there won't be a planet left for them!
I realize that over the years, throughout life,
we've all done things to contribute to the global warming problem.
However, I think the solution is knowing the problem exists,
and knowing that we CAN do things to change what we're doing to our planet...
I just don't know how someone can say they don't care!
I'm stunned!!
I'm sorry she is so inconvenienced having to drive in the snow...
perhaps she never learned in school that we do live in Canada,
we have 4 seasons here....
Winter IS one of them!!

Just call me completely uninspired!!
So today I have a picture of my bunny slippers!
So technically there are 4 bunnies in my house,
but these ones don't eat and require any kind of care other than a
toss in the washing machine!
A woman at work crocheted these for me!

In preparation of Valentine's day I baked some cookies
using some food coloring I made them pink!
Taste the same but look pretty!
Of course with 3 boys you would think that they wouldn't care to eat pink cookies...
But a cookie is a cookie, regardless of the color!

So the snow keeps coming, which is good for our climate.
However, it's all wet and messy outside
so I stand on my balcony,
looking for something interesting to take a picture of,
preferably in walking distance!
One look outside and I've decided that I'm not going out unless my building is being evacuated
for whatever reason!
So I grab my camera, and decided that the snowy trees waiting for their leaves
would be my picture today!
Boring sure...
but I'm lazy!!

We had a wind storm here last week.
Preston was almost blown away walking home after school!
A war,
the wind against everything else.
It was a brutal cold wind.
Sad fact of nature.
The harshness of climate changes,
this tree lost the battle.
I wonder how long it's remains will lay on the ground.

Today was a dreary rainy day.
didn't want to take the camera out of my bag outside,
so I really was thinking that I could skip the picture thing today...
but then it would drive me nuts,
so of course I walked around my 3 bedroom single level apartment
trying desperately to find something that I find interesting.
This is a picture of a painting that Hayden did when he was in grade 3...
He's actually very artistic, to the point that he's considering a high school based solely on their art program.
I think it's pretty awesome that at 8 or 9 years old Hayden was doing paintings covering the whole page!

Again, guess I'm just a proud mom!

Kinda random today...


With today's technology... computers and the internet mainly
I worry that children don't know how to use things as simple as an
encyclopedia, dictionary, or even a phone book!
All because everything is at their fingertips on the
world wide web!
I'll admit I'm just as guilty of this, I actually own the Encyclopedia Britannica
Do my kids open them??

NOPE!

Why should they? The internet is easy, at their disposal...
Perhaps if my computer crashed or something!!
Then they would have some resources in the home!
Perhaps I should just pack them away in a box somewhere,
or let them cut the pictures out for projects...
oh wait...

They can print pictures off the internet too!

So the last 48ish hours have been so insanely busy for me
that even if I wanted to I couldn't possibly think of anything to take a picture of...
at times like these I wish I had more interesting pets!
I love Trix and Jax, I do!!
But kitty cats are...
well lets just say they're
"adventurous"
and puppy dogs are too cute!
Bunny rabbits are cute,
but really, at the core,
boring to look at unless you watch them in person!
Then they can be funny...
something that gets lost in the photography process!
Either way,

in all her fat, overfed,

Winter arrives??

Much to my delight winter appears to have returned...
my only real concern, for how long?
It appears that every time we get winter like weather
its for such a short time,
then global warming does it's damage
and takes it all away!!
This is actually quite the snowfall!
EVERYTHING appears to covered or buried in snow!!

The first picture was taken off my balcony because Hayden was having a sick day
and I was pretty certain I wouldn't be able to get out and actually take a picture for today.
The second picture was taken just after he was discharged from the hospital...

Which is really another story all together!
